Description
The Eglinton Arms Hotel, located at 112-114 High Street in Irvine, dates back to the late 18th century and was raised in the 19th century. This four-storey, three-bay hotel features harled rubble construction, which is rendered and lined at the front, with a base course and painted margins. The entrance doors are centrally located, with a bay to the right, both framed by block margined surrounds and flanked by windows, while there is an additional window to the outer left.
Above the ground floor, the windows are regularly spaced and grouped towards the centre, with gabled dormerheads that have carved portrait heads breaking the eaves at the third floor. The hotel has timber sash and case windows with a four-pane glazing pattern and is topped with grey slates. A broad, harled gablehead stack is positioned to the left.
