1 Makerston Place, Largs

1 Makerston Place in Largs is a mid-19th century asymmetrical house featuring two storeys above a raised basement and a three-storey square tower. The building is harled with polished ashlar dressings, including window and angle margins, a band course between the storeys, and an eaves course.

On the west elevation, there is a central advanced bay with an entrance tower located in the re-entrant angle to the right. The entrance features a corniced door with a porch supported by decorative cast-iron stanchions. Above the entrance, there is a single window, and on the third storey, there are round-headed tripartite windows on each face. The advanced bay has tripartite windows that are round-headed with a bracketed projecting cill on the second storey. The basement and outer bays contain single windows, all featuring corbelled cills and plate glass sashes. The eaves project and are bracketed over the advanced bay, and the roof is covered with piended slate. The asymmetrical north elevation displays similar detailing.
