Uig Parish Church, Lewis

Uig Parish Church, built in 1829, serves as the parish church and is located on a new site. It has a T-plan layout and features harled walls with painted ingoes. The church displays a variety of glazing patterns on its multi-paned tall and flat-lintelled windows, with round-arched glazing along the long south wall. The centre gabled vestry may be an addition. Domestic-scale sash and case windows with a 4-pane glazing pattern are found on the gables. A bell is positioned in the east gable-head, beneath a gable canopy, which is similar to those seen at some schools in Lewis, such as Marvig, likely designed to withstand the local climate. The roofs are slated, and skews run horizontally over skewputts.

Inside, the church is well-preserved, featuring a pulpit with a precentor's box and a canopy supported by a pair of moulded slender timber shafts, with box pews on either side. The walls and ceiling are lined with timber V-lining. Each of the three arms has a gallery with splayed links at the angles, supported by columns made of cast iron or timber.

The church is enclosed by a rubble wall with a plain iron gate.
