Description
Clapper Bridge in Doune Carloway, Lewis, is a road bridge built using clapper-type construction, made entirely of drystone rubble. This method represents an early type of bridge construction, and this particular example likely dates from the 19th or early 20th century. The bridge features four flat-lintel spans that cross a stream draining Loch an Duin, and it does not have any parapets.
