Springfield House, 2 Matheson Road, Stornoway, Lewis

Springfield House is a late 19th century, two-storey, three-bay gabled villa featuring an L-shaped front and iron-railed boundary walls. The building is constructed of rubble with contrasting rendered details that resemble red ashlar. The outer windows are mullioned, while the plate glass sashes are modern replacements. On the left side, there is a two-storey projecting bay with a roof that extends over it, and the porch in the re-entrant angle has been altered. The house has end stacks and a slate roof supported by timber trusses and brackets. To the right, there is a recessed garage, and modern extensions have been added to the side and rear. The low boundary walls are topped with decorative cast-iron railings, and the front gate is a modern addition.
