7 Matheson Road, Stornoway, Lewis

This late 19th century villa on Matheson Road in Stornoway is a two-storey, three-bay building featuring an L-shaped front and distinctive architectural details. The structure is built of rubble with painted (mostly concrete) detailing and has a slate roof. It includes sash windows with plate glass, except for a four-paned window in the centre of the first floor.

The left side of the villa has a shallow advanced section with windows in a two-storey projecting bay. The roof over this bay is carried over and features jerkined detailing, arched timber framing, and a tall iron finial. The remaining first-floor windows have smaller jerkined heads, and there is a canted ground floor window on the right. The porch, located in the re-entrant angle, is arched and has an iron crest.

The villa is complemented by low boundary walls topped with spiked cast-iron railings and a decorative cast-iron gate.
