Description

Black House in New Tolsta, Lewis, is a traditional-type black house that includes integral outbuildings. It is no longer used for domestic purposes since 1991. The original thatched roof has been replaced with a pitched felt roof. The house features massively thick rubble walls, with a door located off-centre on the south long wall and another opening on the east end. The structure consists of two individually-roofed buildings linked at the northeast, which are presumably a byre and a barn.
