Description
This is a traditional shieling, one of a substantial group found in this area, which largely date from the 19th century. It is a Hebridean-type construction built into a sloping bank. The shieling has a rubble-walled doorway on the left-hand side of the front long wall, and a wall-head chimney stack positioned alongside. The roof is turf-covered, with a fence along the wallhead. A free-standing lavatory is located at the rear. The statutory address is CUIASHADER, SHIELING AT OS GRID REFERENCE NB 5397 5823.
