Outbuilding, Gress Lodge, Lewis

Gress Lodge, located in Lewis, appears to date from around 1820 to 1830, as noted in the Harris parish manse of 1827. It is part of a group of substantial buildings that includes a now-ruinous corn mill. The house is two stories tall with three bays and features a central wall-head attic gable on the south front, along with a square turret at the rear, which may be a stair turret. There are also two additional ranges on the east gable, arranged in a T-plan, with the range furthest from the original house having been renovated into a separate dwelling. The exterior is finished in white harling, with modern glazing and slate roofs, and it has end and apex stacks. The central porch on the main south front of the original house is modern. Across the road to the north, there is a free-standing outbuilding that is a double-pile block, single storey with a loft. This outbuilding has a long flank facing the roadside, with a cart or coach house on the left and single windows. The east elevation features a door and a loft door in each gable, along with small-paned sash windows in the flanking openings of the northern section.
