Description

55 and 57 Granary Street in Burghead is an early 19th-century, south-facing, three-storey granary and warehouse. The building features a five-bay façade, with the three central bays closely grouped together. It is constructed of pointed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. The wide central entrance has a segmental head and is flanked by three narrow bays, each with a blocked central door. The first and low second floors have regular fenestration, including a tall basket-arched loading door on the first floor.

At the rear, there are regular openings in the outer bays, and off-centre entrances on the first and second floors are accessed by a stone forestair with an iron handrail. The rear ground floor windows have four-pane glazing, while other windows are shuttered. The building has low coped end and rear wallhead stacks, a slate roof, and a stone ridge.
