Description

This building, located at 72 Granary Street in Burghead, dates back to 1881 and was originally a granary-warehouse. It was converted into a shop and dwelling in 1983. The south-facing structure is built against a slope, featuring raised ground floor entrances at the Granary Street level on the north side. The exterior is constructed from rubble with tooled ashlar dressings.

On the south elevation, the building is three stories tall with an attic and has a symmetrical five-bay frontage that faces the harbour. There are two wide segmental-headed entrances on the ground floor, with regular segmental-headed windows on the first and second floors. Notably, the center window on the second floor was originally a loading door.

The north elevation is two stories high and also has a symmetrical five-bay layout. It features segmental-headed entrances positioned between alternating windows, along with regular segmental-headed fenestration.

The building has varied glazing and is topped with slate roofs. A modern addition with a continuous box dormer and flat roof has been added to the structure.
