Description
Corf Warehouse, located at Shorehead in Portsoy, was designed by John Adam in 1765. This narrow rectangular granary and warehouse stands four stories tall and features seven bays, facing the Old Harbour. The ground floor is constructed of random rubble masonry, while the upper levels are finished with cherry-pointed (galletted) rubble and tooled ashlar dressings.
The front elevation is symmetrical, showcasing five wide entrances on the ground floor, each with plank doors. The first floor has single windows in the second and sixth bays, while the second and third floors feature windows grouped in threes in the outer bays. The rear elevation is also symmetrical, with three entrances on the first floor, which is raised due to the sloping site, and a regular seven-bay arrangement of windows on the upper floors. There are single windows on the third and fourth floors in the north and south return gables, although the latter are blocked. The building has modern glazing and a piended slate roof.
