Description
The Marble Workshop in Shorehead, Portsoy, is a mid-18th century, three-storey former warehouse with a wide, irregular four-bay design. The second floor is partly in the attic. The building features harled walls with sandstone ashlar margins that have worn chamfers. A forestair is located in the center of the long east elevation, providing access to the first floor.
On the east elevation, there are three ground floor windows, one of which retains its original shutter. There is a small, unusual angle window at the northeast corner and small lights on the second floor close to the wallhead. The building showcases a variety of glazing patterns and has deep copes on the end stacks, along with a tall wallhead stack at the center of the west elevation. The roof is slate, and there are cast-iron rooflights.
