10 Shorehead, Portsoy

10 Shorehead in Portsoy is a building dated 1726, designed in an L-plan layout with three storeys and an attic. The main facade faces north towards the Old Harbour and features harled walls with ashlar margins. The north front is composed of five bays arranged regularly. The ground floor has a door in the outer left bay, a pend door in the second bay, and a door in the third bay, which is flanked by windows in the adjacent bays to the right. The windows on the second and third floors follow a similar pattern, with the bays to the left of center being more widely spaced than those to the center and right. The west return gable has single windows on the ground, first, and second floors, along with a pair of oval oculi lighting the gable; similar oculi are found in the east return gable.

Extending south is a three-storey, four-bay wing that has access through a pend arch. This wing features regular fenestration on both the east and west sides, and a single entrance on the first floor is fronted by a wooden deck and forestair on the east elevation. The building is topped with two swept dormers.

The structure has deep moulded copes on three end stacks, crowstepped gables, cavetto skewputts, and a steeply pitched slate roof with a sandstone ridge. Access to the attic in the south gable of the wing is provided from Barbank Street via a harled masonry causeway that oversails the slope.
