Description
The granary on Station Road in Burghead, designed by A and W Reid in 1865, is a symmetrical three-storey, five-bay structure facing south. It is built of tooled rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. The north elevation features a wide central entrance doorway with double leaf plank doors at the first floor level, accessible by a short roadway that oversails the ground floor. The south elevation includes wide segmental-headed openings in the outer and central bays of the ground floor. The building has regular shuttered fenestration throughout, with single small gablet openings in the east and west gables. There are off-centre doorways located on the ground and first floors of the west gable. The roof is slate with a stone ridge.
