Description
East Lodge at Forres House, located on Victoria Road in Forres, dates from the earlier 19th century. This single-storey entrance lodge features three bays and is constructed of rubble with polished ashlar dressings. The prominent central portico is adorned with a pediment, supported by a pair of Roman Doric columns and flanked by pilasters on either side of the doorway. The building has an eaves band, a cornice, and a blocking course, along with a renewed central chimney and a shallow piended slate roof.
The entrance is marked by four square rusticated ashlar gatepiers that support cast-iron gates. Additionally, there are cast-iron railings decorated with fleur-de-lis ornamentation.
