Description

East Gate Lodge at Edmonstone House, located on Old Dalkeith Road in Edinburgh, dates from the late 18th century. It features coped ashlar walls and panelled, corniced gatepiers, with a vehicular gate in the center and a pedestrian gate to the right. The gates are made of curved iron with spearheads, consisting of two leaves for the central entrance and a single leaf for the pedestrian entrance.

The lodge itself is a two-storey structure with two bays, constructed from random rubble. It has barge-boarded eaves on the gables and dormers, and a central brick chimney stack. The roof is covered with graded grey slates.
