Description

South Lodge at Edmonstone House, located on Old Dalkeith Road in Edinburgh, dates from the late 18th century. It features corniced droved ashlar quadrant walls adorned with rosettes along the frieze. The fluted frieze also includes rosettes and is supported by corniced, panelled ashlar piers, which are topped with iron lamp holders. The entrance is marked by 2-leaf spear-headed curved iron gates.

The lodge itself is a 2-storey, 2-bay structure made of rendered stone, showcasing barge-boarding and bracketed eaves, and likely incorporates earlier materials. It has a corniced door surround and barge-boarded dormers that break the eaves. A central stone stack features cylindrical cans.
