Description
South Lodge at Auchintoul House dates from around 1800 and is a single-storey gate lodge with an octagonal plan. The exterior is harled with ashlar margins, a base course, and an eaves course. It features a two-leaf boarded door on the west side and a window on each elevation, with the south elevation being blocked.
The lodge has sash and case windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The octagonal roof is covered with grey slates and has a central rubble-coped octagonal stack.
The gates and gatepiers include a pier attached to the south face, with railings leading to a pair of ashlar gatepiers topped with ball finials. Each gatepier has engaged columns and supports wrought-iron two-leaf gates with spear-headed railings. There are also two additional piers to the east and west of the lodge that terminate the railings.
