Description

The Dovecot at Lesmurdie House, located on Pitcaveny Road in Elgin, dates from the earlier 19th century. It is a hexagonal structure designed to house pigeons in the upper half. The exterior is made of coursed dressed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. Notable features include a bandcourse, an eaves band, and a deep moulded rat course. The roof is hexagonal and covered with slate. Inside, there are 174 nesting boxes on the first floor of the dovecot.
