Description

Newmill House in Newmill, Elgin, was originally built in the early 19th century and underwent extensive alterations and additions by H M S Mackay in 1865. This is a two-storey asymmetrical house that is harled and features polished ashlar dressings and margins. The design includes advanced off-centre gables with a door set in a Venetian frame, which is flanked by outer pilasters and inner engaged Roman Doric columns, topped with an ornate shell hood. To the left, there are two taller bays, with first-floor windows and gablet dormer heads, as well as stone finials, coped stacks, and a slate roof.
