Description
The Dovecot at Conon Mains, associated with Conon House, dates from the later 18th century. It is a tall octagonal structure built of rubble with droved ashlar margins and features a pyramidal felt roof. An ashlar rat course runs two-thirds of the way up the building, and there are groups of three flight holes at the center of each elevation. On one side, there is a small gablet dormer at the wallhead that includes four flight holes. The dovecot is topped with a stone finial and a vane with a weather cock. On the north side, there is a doorway designed for an external opening door, which has a relieving arch above it. The structure contains 600 dressed stone boxes for the doves.
