Description
Conon House is a building constructed between 1790 and 1798, featuring harled walls with painted ashlar margins. It has three storeys and five bays, with the central bay slightly advanced and topped with a pediment. The entrance is adorned with a Roman Doric columned and corniced doorpiece, which includes a frieze decorated with triglyphs and paterae. The roof is piended and slated, with paired chimney stacks at the center.
The house is designed in an H-plan, enhanced by the addition of two-storey wings around 1805, which are also harled with ashlar margins. These wings have bowed fronts with three bays and two-bay flanks. The first-floor windows on the south-east side feature Venetian designs with Gothick glazing in the center lights and blind side lights. The windows throughout the house are 12-pane sash and case types. There are later additions at the rear, partially attributed to A Maitland & Sons, dating from 1904.
