Gate Lodge And Gate Piers, Newbold House, St Leonard's Road, Forres

The Gate Lodge and Gate Piers at Newbold House on St Leonard's Road in Forres were designed by architect Peter Fulton in 1893. This single-storey, three-bay gate lodge faces the driveway and is constructed of bullfaced rubble with tooled and polished ashlar dressings. The central door features roll moulding on the jambs and is flanked by tripartite windows. Above the entrance, a crenellated wallhead incorporates a cartouche with a datestone and monogram. The south gable, which faces the road, has a projecting canted window topped with a crenellated wallhead. The sash windows have multi-pane glazing in the upper lights, and the building is adorned with decorative apex finials, a central ridge cluster of coped stacks, and a slate roof.

The gate piers consist of a pair of octagonal polished ashlar structures, each topped with shaped, crenellated caps and ball finials.
