Gate Lodge, Leanchoil Hospital, 85 St Leonards Road, Forres

The Gate Lodge at Leanchoil Hospital, located at 85 St Leonards Road in Forres, was built in 1892 and is likely part of a design by John Rhind from 1889. Alternatively, it may have been designed later by H Saxon Snell, who took over the project after Rhind's death in August 1889. The lodge features details similar to the main hospital block, such as chamfered angles, chimney stacks, a finial, a slate roof, and plate glass sash and case windows. It is a single-storey, L-shaped building with three bays facing the main road to the south, an advanced gable on the left, and an inscription panel beneath a stepped hood-mould. The wide inner doorway has two leaves with partly-glazed doors, and there are bipartite windows in both the gable facing the main road and the gable facing the driveway to the east. Additionally, there is a free-standing fountain dated 1897, which may commemorate a royal jubilee.
