Former Skinnery, Grannies Park, Edinburgh Road, Dalkeith

The former skinnery located in Grannies Park, Edinburgh Road, Dalkeith, dates from the late 18th century and was heightened in the 19th century. It is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed of rubble.

On the west elevation, there are four asymmetrical bays. A large machinery door is positioned to the left, with another door in the bay to the right of the center. The ground and first floors feature windows, although the left bay and the bay to the right of center at the first floor are blocked.

The east elevation has three asymmetrical bays, with windows on both the ground and first floors, but the center window on the first floor is blocked.

The north elevation includes an iron handrail leading to a door on the left, and there are two blocked windows at the attic level, indicating that the building has been raised in height.

On the south elevation, which faces Edinburgh Road, there is a door in the gable head, accessed by a bridge or walkway from the street. The windows are glazed, and the building features coped skews and grey slates.
