Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey, 2-bay end house of irregular terrace. Random rubble, heavily repointed; W elevation rendered, lined and painted.

S (NORTH ESK) elevation: doorway in bay to right, replacement door and letterbox fanlight; window above at 1st floor. 2 tripartite windows with painted ashlar mullions at ground and 1st floors in bay to left. Low ashlar coped rubble retaining wall with decorative cast-iron railing, running S, adjoined to left.

W (EDINBURGH ROAD) ELEVATION: gabled and blank. Jamb adjoined to N elevation: door flanked by 2 windows at basement to W, with bipartite window at 1st floor to right; severely modernised house (Esk Cottage) adjoined to N gable of Jamb.

E ELVATION: mutual gable with No 6 Bridgend (see separate listing).

Modern glazing pattern in replacement windows. Coped skews, mutual to E. Shouldered gablehead stack to W, coped rendered and lined mutual stack to E. Grey slates.
