Description

Roscot is an early 19th-century, two-storey, two-bay end house that is part of an irregular terrace. The building is constructed of random rubble that has been heavily repointed, with the west elevation rendered, lined, and painted.

On the south elevation facing the North Esk, there is a doorway in the right bay featuring a replacement door and a letterbox fanlight, with a window above on the first floor. To the left, there are two tripartite windows with painted ashlar mullions located at both the ground and first floors. A low ashlar coped rubble retaining wall with decorative cast-iron railing runs south and is adjoined to the left.

The west elevation facing Edinburgh Road is gabled and blank. It has a jamb that is adjoined to the north elevation, where a door is flanked by two windows at the basement level to the west, and there is a bipartite window at the first floor to the right. The house known as Esk Cottage, which has been severely modernised, is adjoined to the north gable of the jamb.

The east elevation features a mutual gable with No. 6 Bridgend, which is listed separately. The replacement windows have a modern glazing pattern. The building has coped skews that are mutual to the east, a shouldered gablehead stack to the west, and a coped rendered and lined mutual stack to the east. The roof is covered with grey slates.
