Description
Shandwick House, located on Chapel Street in Tain, dates back to 1849. This two-storey and attic, three-bay house features a central door. The exterior is made of coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings, showcasing long and short detailing on the quoins, windows, and door. The first-floor windows are connected by a cill course and feature later 19th-century projecting rectangular bay windows with parapets. The first-floor windows have 12-pane glazing, and there are two piended dormers with original 6-pane glazing. The house has corniced end stacks, a slate roof, and a stone ridge. There are extensive additions to the rear of the building.
