Munro's Villa, Tower Gardens, Tower Street, Tain

Munro's Villa, located on Tower Gardens, Tower Street in Tain, was designed by Thomas Munro in 1902. This pair of semi-detached villas stands three storeys tall and features two bays. The buildings are constructed from sneck coursed stugged rubble with harled flanks and ashlar dressings.

The centre bays are advanced gables, each featuring a two-storey canted bay window adorned with a decorative frieze and topped with a Cumbrian fish-scale slate roof. Each villa has original glazed porches situated in the re-entrant angles, complete with panelled doors and cast-iron brattishing. There is a single piended dormer that rises through the wallhead of each house, and both villas retain their original rhones and down-pipes. The buildings have end stacks and a slate roof.

In front of the villas, there are two pairs of earlier 19th-century square ashlar gate piers, which have fluted and corniced caps. The property is also enclosed by cast-iron gates and overthrows, along with a low coped retaining wall topped with spearhead cast-iron railings.
