Description

The Town Hall on Church Street in Fortrose was built between 1839 and 1841 and features a galleried rectangular design with Gothic details. The south front and east gable are made of ashlar stone, while the north front and west gable are constructed from rubble. The south front has four bays, with tall central windows that originally illuminated the pulpit. The outer bays contain doors with gallery windows above. All openings are pointed arched and include hood-moulds, with astragals at the windows featuring intersecting traceried tops and intersecting traceried fanlights above the doors. There is a moulded eaves course and a slated roof. The interior has been stripped of its gallery and pulpit, and there is a single-storey modern extension on the north side.
