Description

The Churchyard and Gate Piers at Springfield Village Church were built in 1861 and feature a simple rectangular design. The east gable is constructed of stugged and snecked ashlar, while the rest of the building is made from rubble. The front includes a central cusped-headed door, flanked by round-headed windows, with three similar windows at the gallery level. Above the entrance, there is a clock and a corbelled birdcage bellcote topped with a small obelisk. The north and south elevations each have three tall, round-headed windows, most of which feature simple Y-tracery.

Inside, there is a gallery on the east wall with a panelled front, which has been converted into a vestry. The painted wooden pulpit has a panelled front supported by pilasters and a sounding board. The windows beside the pulpit were created by Ballantine and Gardiner in 1903, along with two later unsigned windows—one on the north wall dating from after 1913 and one on the south wall from after 1907. The churchyard is enclosed by rubble-built walls that include ashlar gatepiers.
