Description
1 Tower Street in Tain was built as the architect's office of Andrew Maitland, who passed away in 1894. It was likely constructed in the 1870s. This cottage-sized building showcases Maitland's unique picturesque style, featuring decorative barge-boards and timber-framed, painted walls. The roof is slated with deep eaves and red ridge-tiles. The street front has three bays and a prominent central entrance gable, with decorative elements extending into the gables. The plinth, central axial stack, and part of the rear outshot are all made of stone.
