Stables, Manse House, Manse Street, Tain

The stables at Manse House on Manse Street in Tain date from around 1800. This two-storey building with an attic features three bays, with the middle bay slightly off-centre. The exterior is harled with ashlar margins, and there is a later 19th-century porch that has a bargeboard design, screening the door and featuring a lozenge-glazed fanlight. The windows have 12-pane glazing, and there are two piended dormers. The building has ashlar-margined end stacks and a slate roof.

Adjacent to the house is a single-storey stable block that has a gable facing the street. This stable is constructed of rubble and includes a ridge stack, apex ball finials, and a slate roof.

The property is enclosed by a low coped retaining wall topped with cast-iron spearhead railings and a matching pedestrian gate. There are later channelled gatepiers that feature a moulded cornice and square caps, as well as coped rubble garden walls.
