Description
The stables at Kingston House date from the early 19th century and feature a rectangular plan, consisting of a single-storey cottage and stable range with a walled court to the west and a garden to the east. The structure is built from squared and snecked Rattlebag rubble, accented with droved ashlar dressings. It has small-pane glazing in sash and case windows and a slate roof without any stacks.
On the west elevation, there are five bays. The central area has a depressed arched former carriage opening with chamfered arrises, which is partly blocked to accommodate a modern doorway. This opening is set in a gabled bay that breaks the eaves and features a hayloft door above. There are single lights on either side of this opening, a bipartite window to the outer left, and a wide doorway with sliding doors to the outer right.
An additional stable building is recessed and adjoins the south gable, along with brick additions to the east. There is also a piend-roofed outbuilding located at the southwest corner of the court. The northern entrance is marked by droved ashlar gatepiers that are capped with pyramids.
