Round Toll, 1 Barrhead Road, Pollokshaws, Glasgow

Round Toll is a former tollhouse located at 1 Barrhead Road in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, dating from around 1820. This single-storey building features a circular plan and a low conical roof covered with slates, topped by a central chimney. The exterior has regularly spaced openings that are now boarded up. The structure is made of large squared, coursed, and droved sandstone rubble, with sandstone ashlar around the openings that have indented arrises, a base course, and a banded eaves course, which has undergone some cement repair. It is situated at a major road junction within a central roundabout.

The roof is radially slated with small slates, and it has cast iron rainwater goods. The central chimney is rendered, and there are timber boarded shutters with decorative strap hinges. The windows are missing as of 2013, but there is evidence of 12-pane timber sash and case windows that once existed.

The interior was not seen in 2013, but it is known to be in a derelict condition, with remnants of lathe and plaster and a fireplace from the 1950s.
