Description
Pollokshaws West Station, built around 1847 for the Glasgow Barrhead and Neilston Railway, features a long rectangular plan with a single-storey elevation facing the embanked platform and track, and a two-storey elevation towards Pollokshaws Road. The station is constructed of red brick, which is unusual for its time, and is accented with contrasting long and short worked ashlar dressings. It has a broad eaved slate roof with paired axial stacks. Additionally, there is a stone-built, iron-railed embankment wall along the roadside.
