Description
This is a former tollhouse, likely dating from around 1800. It is situated within the garden of number 45, Daltongate, Ulverston. The building has a six-sided plan and is constructed with roughcast rubble on the ground floor, rendered brickwork above, and a six-sided slate roof with lead-roll flashings. It is two storeys high. The three sides facing a yard to the east have sash windows with glazing bars and plain reveals, with projecting sills. A single window on the first floor is blind, with painted glazing bars. The central doorway has double doors of three raised and fielded panels each, a round arch with a keystone and impost band, and a semicircular glazed fanlight. The side facing the adjacent house has a first-floor window similar to the others. The side facing the road is blank and features a chimney rising from the eaves. A small, rear lean-to addition is also present.
