Description

Fair View is a house, dating to around 1830, and attributed to George Webster. It is now used as an old people's home. The house is constructed of large, rock-faced limestone blocks with a slate roof. It has two storeys plus an attic. The north facade features a three-bay pedimented central section flanked by single bays on each side. A first-floor sill band runs along the facade, and there is a cornice and blocking course at the top. The windows are glazing bar sashes. The left-hand bay on the ground floor is blind and contains a niche with a statue. A porch, with a cornice and blocking course, is supported by limestone Tuscan columns. Attic dormers are positioned to each side of the central pediment, and there are two chimneys on the ridge. The south facade includes a two-storey bowed window.
