Cemetery Lodge, 22 Main Street, Bowhill, Auchterderran

Cemetery Lodge, located at 22 Main Street in Bowhill, Auchterderran, is an earlier 20th-century single-storey lodge house designed in an L-plan with crowstepped gables. The building is constructed from dressed, squared, and snecked rubble, featuring dressed quoins, an eaves course, and stop-chamfered arrises.

The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, showcases an advanced crowstepped gable with a window and relieving arch positioned to the right of the center. There is a lower bay to the outer right that includes a pedimented dormer head that breaks the eaves. An advanced crowstepped porch is located to the left, featuring a timber door, a plate glass fanlight, and windows on the returns in the re-entrant angle. A further window is situated to the outer left.

On the north elevation, there is another crowstepped gable with a bipartite window at the center, also below a relieving arch. The east elevation features a low swept roof over asymmetrically arranged windows. The windows throughout the lodge are timber sash and case with a glazing pattern of 6 panes above and 2 panes below. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and the building has coped ashlar stacks and cans.

The lodge is accompanied by gatepiers, gates, boundary walls, and railings. The gatepiers are made of ashlar with stop-chamfered arrises and a moulded panel on each face, topped with large polygonal finials that have quatrefoil detail. The boundary walls are constructed from coped rubble and low saddleback-coped dressed rubble, complemented by decorative cast-iron railings and gates.
