12 Woodend Road, Auchterderran

12 Woodend Road in Auchterderran is a former schoolhouse built in the earlier to mid 19th century. This two-storey, three-bay building features a harled exterior combined with painted, squared, and snecked rubble, along with quoin strips and raised margins. It has a base course and stop-chamfered arrises, as well as stone mullions.

On the south elevation, there is a centrally located window with a cornice, a canted window to the right with a blocking course, and a slightly advanced bipartite window in the left bay. To the outer right, there is a single-storey outhouse that has been converted into a garage, featuring a timber door.

The west elevation, which serves as the entrance, has an advanced gable on the right side with windows to the left at ground level and off-centre right at the first floor. There is a lower, three-bay extension, possibly a converted outhouse, in the re-entrant angle to the left, which includes a timber door in the right bay, a window in the centre, and a further deep-set door with a three-part fanlight to the outer left.

The north elevation features an advanced gable at the centre with a slightly lower roof pitch, along with a single-storey, piend-roofed 19th-century extension on the right. There is also a small brick extension in the re-entrant angle to the left.

The building has timber sash and case windows with 4- and 12-pane glazing patterns on the south side, while top-opening timber windows are found elsewhere. The roof is covered with graded grey slates and features cavetto-coped ashlar stacks with a full complement of polygonal cans and ashlar coped skews.

Surrounding the property are semicircular-coped rubble boundary walls.
