Description

26 Main Street in Limekilns is an 18th-century, two-storey house with an attic and an asymmetrical three-bay square plan. The exterior features white harling with painted stone surrounds and an eaves course.

On the south elevation, the main entrance consists of a central plank door topped by a three-pane fanlight. To the right are two windows, while a large bipartite window is located to the left. Above the door, there is a single window, with additional flanking windows on the first floor. A narrow extension is set back to the right, featuring a small window, and there is a narrow outshot below it with another plank door set back.

The west elevation includes a ground floor window to the left, with a single window on both the first and attic floors to the right, featuring fixed lights.

The north elevation was not seen in 2000, and the east elevation presents a plain gable with an outshot.

The house has replacement fenestration with centrally pivoted timber windows and decorative iron hinges on the doors. The pitched roof has swept eaves, modern pantiles, crowstepped gables, and a moulded skewputt on the right, while the left skewputt is damaged. There are gable apex stacks.

The interior was not seen in 2000. Surrounding the house to the south and west is a low rubble boundary wall topped with flat coping stones, featuring a central opening in front of the entrance door.
