Hope Cottage, 11 Academy Square, Limekilns

Hope Cottage is an 18th-century, two-storey house located at 11 Academy Square in Limekilns. The exterior features white harling with ashlar surrounds to the openings and quoins.

On the east elevation, there is a door to the left, a central forestair with stone steps and a metal handrail, and a plank door located under the stairs. Above to the right, there is a decorative metal air vent, and on the first floor, there is a glazed and fixed timber door. Ground and first floor windows are situated to the right.

The south elevation has two ground floor and one first floor window, along with two square niches above in the gable. At the southeast angle, there is a two-faced corner sundial on the first floor, dated 1689, with gnomons facing south and east.

The north elevation is plain, featuring two first floor windows to the left. The west elevation is attached to 10 Academy Square.

Some of the windows are timber sash and case with horns, while others are timber, centrally pivoted windows. The roof is covered with modern pantiles, and the south gable wallhead has crowstepped detailing, beaked skewputts, and a stone gable apex stack, along with circular cans.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1999.
