Description

9 Back Causeway is an 18th-century, two-storey house with a rectangular plan. The exterior is harled, featuring painted stone door and window surrounds on the principal and northwest elevations.

On the northeast (principal) elevation, there is a central door on the first floor, accessed by a replacement forestair from the right, which has a metal handrail. To the left of the forestair, there is a blocked ground floor door, with a ground and first floor window to its left, and a small ground floor window further left. A lower wing extends to the left, with a window to the right and a door to the left, along with a first floor window above the door. There is a redundant skewput located at the right quoin below the eaves.

The southeast elevation features a ground floor window to the left.

The southwest elevation is partially visible from the first floor, showing a first floor window at both the far left and far right. There is a lower section to the right with three first floor windows, the third being a narrow light. A redundant skewput is present at the left quoin below the eaves.

The northwest elevation has two ground floor windows, with a rebate and remains of hinges for a former shutter on the right window, and a first floor window to the left.

The house has timber paned windows and timber doors, with a pitched roof covered in replacement clay pantiles. The upper half of the gables features crowsteps, and there are gable apex stacks with circular clay cans. The southeast wing has a pitched roof with a lower roof line, also covered in replacement clay pantiles.

The interior was not seen in 2001.
