Description
This 18th-century structure is the remains of a circular kiln located to the east of Academy Square and north of Main Street in Limekilns. The kiln stands over 15 feet tall in some areas and is constructed from large sandstone rubble blocks. It features a low arched opening on the west side at ground level, with a rectangular opening above it, approximately 10 feet off the ground. The northern elevation is obscured by ivy. There are also rubble walls of seemingly similar age that run along to the east and west, although they are not attached to the kiln. The interior was not seen as of 2000.
