270-274 High Street, Leslie

This building, located at 270-274 High Street in Leslie, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay tenement with shops on the ground floor, forming an irregular pair within a terrace. The ground floor is cement-rendered and designed to resemble coursed ashlar, featuring dividing band courses and quoin strips, while the first floor and sides are harled.

On the north elevation, there are three widely spaced bays that are nearly symmetrical. The central door is modern, and there is a small window under the eaves. To the left at ground level, there is a former shop door that is partly glazed. The outer bay on the left has a large shop window from the late 19th century at ground level and a modern picture window on the first floor. The outer bay on the right has a shop door and window similar to the left, with another picture window above.

The west elevation features a gabled design with a flat-roofed extension that adjoins the next building. The modern glazing includes a timber-framed window at the centre of the first floor, which is oval and has stained glass.

The roof is covered with red pantiles and has a slate easing course at the eaves. The gables are steeply pitched and have gablehead stacks, one of which is coped ashlar and the other harled, along with thackstanes. There are decorative rainwater hoppers and downpipe fixtures.
