Steading, Balgonie Cottage

Balgonie Cottage is an early 19th century L-plan steading constructed from dressed sandstone rubble, featuring long and short work quoins.

The south elevation has a projecting, piended double bay on the right, which includes a wide sliding door. To the left, there is a recessed face with a cart arch below a hayloft opening and a timber door beneath a slated dormer-headed hayloft door that breaks the eaves.

The east elevation is largely blank, except for three roundels near the eaves, with the outer two featuring decorative astragals.

The north elevation displays a variety of elements, including four roundels similar to those on the east side, located in the centre and left sections. A timber lean-to outbuilding on the right is not included in this listing.

The west elevation features a gable end with a small hayloft opening at the centre. The building shows evidence of 4-pane and decorative glazing patterns and is topped with red pantiles.
