Description
Grainfoot is a single-storey, T-plan cottage with an attic, dating from before 1854. It is constructed of squared and coursed stugged sandstone with ashlar dressings. The windows feature chamfered reveals, stone mullions, and hoodmoulds. The cottage has a central projecting bay where the wallhead breaks the eaves of the main block, with chamfered angles that are corbelled to a square above. The ground floor has a bipartite window, with a single window above. There is a door on the left return that includes a strip fanlight. The outer bays have tripartite windows on the ground floor and gabled dormers above in the attic, which contain timber bipartite windows. A modern lean-to conservatory addition is located on the left side. The cottage features sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, bracketted eaves, grey slate roofing, and chamfered and corniced ashlar end stacks.
