Greendykes, Old School Road, Longniddry

Greendykes is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay former schoolhouse built in an L-plan layout. The structure is made of squared and snecked red sandstone, featuring contrasting dressings and an ashlar cill on the rear wing. At the center, there is a doorway with a panelled door and a five-pane strip fanlight above it. On either side of the doorway, there are windows at the ground floor, and three windows at the first floor that break the eaves in gabled dormerheads with beak skewputts. There is also a window at the first floor on the right return gable. Additionally, there is a later two-bay wing at right angles to the rear, which is detailed similarly and includes a single-storey extension at the gable. The building features sash and case windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern, a roof covered in purple slates, ashlar coped skews, beak skewputts, and coped ashlar stacks. A low rubble coped retaining wall surrounds the property.
