Description
Jarvais Cottage is a single-storey cottage, likely built in the mid 18th century, situated on rising ground. The cottage features three irregular bays and is constructed from harl-pointed red sandstone rubble, with ashlar surrounds that are stugged and droved to a later window on the west gable.
The south elevation has an off-centre door to the right, flanked by small windows in the outer bays. There is a small window on the east gable, with a blocked window to the left. The sash and case windows have a lying-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with pantiles and has a slate easing course, showcasing a distinctive East Lothian skew formation. The gable ends are capped with coping, and there are stacks at the gable ends.
