3, 5 Bridge Street, Tranent

This early 19th century building is a two-storey and attic tenement with a shop on the ground floor and a round stair tower at the rear. The south elevation features painted bull-faced cement with plain painted dressings and a base course, while the side and rear elevations are harled. It is adjoined to the east by 1-3 Bridge Street and has a driveway to the west.

On the south elevation, there is a door at the center, flanked by a shop window to the left and a larger window to the right. The first floor has three irregularly spaced windows, and there are three flat-roofed, tile-hung dormer additions.

The north elevation is three bays wide, with a circular stair block at the center. It has a door at ground level, a tall window with breaking eaves, and a conically roofed top. There is a later lean-to addition attached to the left of the stair tower. To the left, there is another door flanked by a small window, and to the right, there is a window at ground level, with a window in each outer bay on the first floor.

The west elevation is blank, facing the driveway. The building features a variety of glazing patterns in its sash and case windows, end stacks, and coped skews. The roof is covered with red tiles, while the conical roof of the stair tower is grey.
